Sometimes you can hear the passion for particular bands when listening to a cd. Scornage is an example of a band that shows no real originality, but the 12 songs on this record are a perfect mix of their favourite bands like Slayer, At The Gates, Testament and Kreator.
In songs like ‘Scarred Tone’ and ‘Pure Motorized Instinct’ you ask yourself where you heard that riff before. Fast melodic riffs are topped by a singer that sounds like a mix between Mike Amott when singing in Carcass and Tomas Lindberg from At The Gates. Speaking about the latter.... a song like ‘I Am Your Fear’ comes really close to those Swedish heroes. The riff in the chorus is pretty cool by the way.
Although there is no real originality in this music, it is done with such a passion and pleasure that it makes this record pretty nice. | |
The atmosphere in ‘Keep it to yourself’, the fast thrash bomb ‘Higher’ or the German sung ‘Abgrund’; this record has got a lot of potential. It is also impressive to hear how vocalist Guido exactly sings along with the riff like in ‘Pure Motorized Instinct’ and in ‘When there is no more room in hell’. The last song is built op around a The Dawn Of The Dead quote. A song that will do perfectly live.
To sum things up, the band is good in writing fat thrash songs, with lots of melody and aggression. You’ve heard it all before, you can either irritate yourself or just enjoy this record. It’s up to you
