The review of this album is a bit late. Through circumstances which I won`t bother you with. But “Faustian Dream” (that’s the name of this album from Black Crucifixion) took ten years to be completed. Now that this review is just 6 months to late, I guess this shouldn’t be a problem.
In the biography, I read that this band is one of the pioneers of the Nordic metal scene in the early nineties and that this release has nothing in common with blackmetal or any other metal genre.
The album starts with a very bad intro. It has a anoying piano and guitar tune. I think the band wants to make it very exciting or create a scary sound. It didn’t work for me.
After the intro there are some heavy rock guitars and then the singer begins. | |
The songs has got a lot of rock influence, so exactly as the biography said: “this has nothing to do with blackmetal”. The music is played very slow.
While listening to the album I sometimes think of Nick Cave. But I really don’t want to make that comparison, because then I would give this band to much credit. The music from Black Crucifixion is currently black and depressive. The depressive idea comes true the slow sound and lyrics about hate and pain.
Black Crucifixion didn’t impress me with this release. I don’t like the style of slow music they played on this release.
