Victory Records has released a lot of great albums in the past, but the label is releasing a lot of crap these days.
The release I’m talking about is “Homeland Insecurity”, the debut album from Endwell.
Endwell is a five piece band from Queens, NY and there is nothing special in their sound. Endwell is a typical band that`s influenced by fashion. I have never seen a picture of this guys but I think they all have got an emo haircut. If you don’t know how the emo haircut looks like then try this link.

Endwell plays emo with hardcore influence.
I’ll start this review with some short circumscription of the singing. Endwell tries to combine sing-along parts with brutal screaming. The brutal voice isn’t really brutal and the sing-along parts are not at the right time for me to sing along.

Then there are the clean parts. These are false sometimes and you might understand the lyrics are about……. Yes they are about love and teenage problems. It’s still emo.

Then the music. Endwell sound like a pop-rock-emo band with no inspiration. The sound reminds me of Atreyu. There’s one song that reminds me of Marco Borsato (that’s a Dutch Italian who sings in Dutch and is really popular with moms and grandmas in the Netherlands).

In a few words, this album is not special, the clean singing is too often false, there are no special guitar sounds, just the screaming parts are sometimes good and brutal. There’s one thing about this band I forgot to mention: the oldest guy from this band is only 21 years old.
