South-African power metal is what Agro is all about. On the new album Ritual 6, they proved this once again. While I was listening to the album for the first time, I was more concentrated on the guitars and keyboards and I thought the drums were weak, so I didn`t quite get the whole thing. The keyboards came out the strongest...they kept the songs going. My two favourite songs on the album are `10 x Over`, which has a catchy chorus, and `Carpe Diem`, which has - in my opinion - some Fear Factory influences. | |
And I do like that. The songs following `B.D.F.P.` are a let-down to a certain extent as they don`t convince me as much as the others. I don`t feel the same energy as I did in the beginning of the album. Although `Willowmore` does break that a little.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and I think buying this album would mean you did spend your money well. So, regardless of that little negative note, I can say: good job Agro. (Julie) |
