Eugh, how I hate promos that are split in 99 tracks. I realize it`s necessary for record labels to that, but for me as a reviewer it`s pretty annoying.
Disillusion is new to me. These guys hail from Zwickau, Germany, and their previous album, Back To Times Of Splendour, was well-received in the press. The promotional flyer that came with their latest album Gloria states that this album is `a big hit`.
Well, they’ve got that right. The only problem is that I don’t know whether it’s a positive or negative hit. Not for a second am I in touch with the music. | |
It’s very diverse, too diverse in my opinion. There’s a lot of electronics and a kind of industrial feel with the music. The vocals are distorted most of the times and when they’re not distorted they remind me of later Paradise Lost (and thus Deplete Mode), but not really.
See, Gloria really leaves me confused at my desk. I actually don’t know what to write about this album. It`s not bad, but it`s very hard to digest.
This is an album for fans of dark wave, gothic and industrial music, with a touch of metal.
