Katafalk has a great history and it goes like this: the band started in 1995, did some tours with God Dethroned, released an album on Cold Blood Industries, played at major festivals like Waldrock (this is a big metal festival somewhere in the Netherlands) and did some headliner shows in the Netherlands and Germany. So I guessed there might be a suitable label for this band after reading the first sentences from this review (at least I thought that). But there isn’t a label and Katafalk did a “do it yourself job” and they released this four-song EP called ‘Death`s Contradiction’.

Katafalk went to the Soundlodge Studio and together with Jörg Uken (who also did the latest album from God Dethroned) recorded this MCD.

The music on this EP is thrash metal with a lot of death and some black metal influence. It’s played fast and has got some great solos. There is not a second of silence on this EP, before you know it’s over and you just want to listen to it again.

You can compare the sound from Katafalk with bands like God Dethroned, Detonation, Slayer (off course every metal band sounds like Slayer) and Children Of Bodom. I don’t think I have to mention more bands here, you probably got the point. This is no new sound, but just very well played cool metal.
