Scourger’s Blind Date With Violence reminds me somehow of another cd I reviewed last month, Pure Motorized Instinct from Scornage. Both have a great passion for metal, and both aren’t really original in what they do, but they do it with such a passion that I developed some admiration for them. Blind Date With Violence is a thrash record that will remind you of the great ones of the earth: Slayer, Kreator, Testament and also a bit of Dismember. There are 16 songs on this record, and three of them are live. The disadvantage of listening to this record is the constant volume of this cd. Scourger is loud and heavy, but it would do this cd some good if they had taken their foot off the pedal sometimes.

It’s pretty hard to listen to this whole record in one session. It gets better after a few spins, but they could use more dynamic parts. Testament, Slayer etc. are pretty good because they accentuated the loud parts and sometimes kept some rest. However, Blind Date With Violence is a passionate record, and a sort of ode to thrash metal. And it works, the singer has a grunt/screaming voice, the riffs and solos are pretty cool (the further the record progresses, the more memorable solos come your way). Next stop: make a cd that keeps the attention of the listener. This is a perfect cd while doing something else though. But I guess that wasn’t their intention.
