Another release in my CD-player which really can’t get my approval.
The Name is a band from the Netherlands. The band started in 2000 to make modern, jumpy metal with some female vocals.
I can be very quick with this one. The music sounds if this is their first high-school band and that’s not a compliment when you started six years ago.
Sometimes the girl impresses me with her voice but most of the time it doesn’t keep my attention. Maybe this is to be blamed at the guy that mixed this album, because the double vocals aren’t really in the exact same line.
Further there are some really bad sounding guitar solos. They try to sound poppy, they also try to sound as a gothic band and they try to make sing-along songs. The sing-along songs give me the idea that I’m at my first high-school party and the band from the school is playing a famous song. | |
The worst part of this album is, besides the bad sounding songs, the backing vocals from guitar player Silas. He tries to sing in English but it sound as Dutch as hell.
The Name doesn’t have a specific musical style they like to play. Most of the times it sounds as pop rock and two songs later you think they would fit in the gothic scene,
I think it’s better for this band to play only covers on some kind of wedding. The songs they made aren’t very good composed. The only highlight from this album is the very good looking girl on the front of the album. Mail me at news@rockezine.com if you think this album is a nice Christmas present for your little sister. When you’re the first I’ll sent it to you for free.
