After Stabbing Westward was gone, we could have put our hopes in this Norwegian band. Their debut album "Clone Your Lover" had some poppy influences from SW. "Eurotrash" however is a different story altogether. There are still some poppy industrial influences, but the essence is even smoother than their earlier work. The music evolved more into the gothic/ wave direction although some songs even will be too poppy for that. Listen to `Need You Like A Drug` and `Eurotrash`, two songs you can sing along with in just one second. On the other hand ZEROMANCER has the ability to create some catchy songs without that recognisable feeling. `Chrome Bitch` is easy to listen to, but has a dark and sometimes strange twist to it.

On this record the band is at its best during the softer songs, where we feel that melancholic depressive atmosphere again. Songs like `Wannabe` and especially (best track) `Cupola` belong to this category. Actually, from that moment on, ZEROMANCER proves to be like a fish in water playing their current music. Even the more up-tempo tracks improve. "Eurotrash" put ZEROMANCER between the likes of Stabbing Westward and the Crüxshadows (wave/ gothic band). It gives the band a face of their own (although their looks are a lot like those of the Crüxshadows), but you have to listen carefully, before you find the beauty of it all.
