Grendel is a band from Finland. I already knew a band called Grendel but that’s a band from the Netherlands.
Grendel from Finland started in 1999 and released already two self-financed EPs, three promotional cds and in December last year they released their debut album called Lost Beyond Retrieval, which is also a self-financed album.

Grendel did a very nice job with this self-financed debut album. The band sounds very mature and the songs give me a dark feeling, but not too dark for me. The darkest part of this album are the lyrics (they’re not too positive).
Grendel has got a melodic sound with some hit potential in it.

With hit potential I mean the easy sing-along refrains. This band sounds very refreshing and that’s a surprise for me. The music isn’t really an innovation, the melodic/pop/rock sound is done by million of other bands but this band has something I can’t really name. You have to listen to it yourself I guess.

The artwork also fits the band’s music, the whole black/white booklet fits the sound and lyrics of this band perfectly because of the dark sound this band has. I think you can order this release at their website. Check it out at: www.grendelband.com
