Conspiracy is for the real fanatics who can appreciate a slightly recooked mid-90’s black metal dish only. Drawing mainly upon mid-period Immortal whilst adding a quite tuneful thrashy edge to it, the band delivers a sonic attack on everything good, while retaining a nice and cozy touch with everything evil (just mention the cheesy song title ‘Brothers Of Black Metal’ – best track on the album though). Shredding away towards the realms of real grim noise, Conspiracy does value a nice guitar solo and occasionally guides the riffs with almost cheerful leads. Let’s say that if you want to shock someone unfamiliar with black metal without being avoided afterwards for being a completely detached social enigma, Conspiracy is here to assist. | |
So, although demonstrating skilled guitar-play and knowing how to write a stirring riff, Conspiracy is not really something the erudite black metalfan still looking for surprises should waste too much time on. But I have to say, they do come across as enthusiastic, convincing and absolutely dedicated to their product, so if you can’t get enough you might just put them on your list.
