The history of this Swiss metal band called Excruciation goes way back. The band started in 1985 and called it quits in 1991. In those six years the band sold more then 30.000 albums. In the year 2005 they came back together and decided to get the “rock” back into their life.
First I’ve got to mention that I’m not a huge fan of doom metal and that’s the sound that dominates this album.
Excruciation sounds as all the other doom bands I know. The typical slow doom sound with sometimes acceleration to mid tempo. | |
The voice from the vocalist Eugenio Meccariello sounds if he uses his last breath while singing his lines, so that’s something that can’t impress me either.
The sound (production) is very clean and that’s a big up for Jim Morris who did their mastering. Morris also did the mastering for Cannibal Corpse and Death in the past.
When you’re into doom metal then I think this one fits perfectly in your CD collection, but I don’t understand why this band sold over more then 30.000 copies in the past.
