Freya is a band from Karl Buechner, Erick Edwards, Ian Edwards, Ethan Henry and Dennis Merrick. The first three members I mentioned were also members from the legendary band Earth Crisis. With Earth Crisis they sold over 300.000 albums and played shows all over the world. There are even bands that are named after songs from Earth Crisis.
Karl Buechner is also one of the singers from Path Of Resistance. And the same vocalist isn’t the only thing these bands have in common. These three bands released their albums on Victory Records and they’re famous for supporting animal rights and promoting a healthy life-style including a strict vegan diet and abstinence from alcohol and other stimulant substances.

With these above mentioned facts success is guaranteed.
Three years ago Freya released their debut album As The Last Light Drains. The sound of this album was very different then this one, vocalist Darien (who did the melodic singing parts) is no longer a member of this band.

Most of the Freya members are former members of Earth Crisis. So it isn’t very weird that this album sounds as a follow-up Earth Crisis album.

Most songs of this album are in the line of a new Earth Crisis, sometimes there are some clean vocals. But I think they just want to try how it sounds when Buechner tries this.
The last song on this album is War Pigs; this is of course a Black Sabbath cover. Unfortunately it doesn’t sound as great as Black Sabbath itself or when Faith No More plays it.

I think Lift The Curse is an album between two, and maybe the next album is again an Earth Crisis album because that band did a reunion-show a few weeks ago. The future will tell us everything.
