As you might notice in the title of this album this is indeed a split album. The Swedish band Beneath The Frozen Soil and the American band Negative Reaction have hooked up with Totalrust Music (and that’s a label from Israel) to release this split CD.

The first five tracks from this split album are from Beneath The Frozen Soil. This band from Sweden plays doom. And the most of you readers already know that I’m not the biggest doom fan on this planet. The music is too slow for me, while listening I get the feeling that I’m sleeping. That’s what this band does, they do slow long tracks. And most of the time a band is three or four years busy recording and fixing their songs. For people who love it this is probably a band to check out. So go to www.myspace.com/btfs and listen some doom tunes for yourself.

The other band on the split is from New York. Negative Reaction plays also doom. I’ve got the same feeling with these songs as I had with the previous songs. This is to slow for me, I can’t stay focused on the music when a song is, for example, more then nine minutes (off course there are some exceptions) and played very slow.

Just as the first band Negative Reaction is a band to check out. They play the music very good and I can’t hear any mistakes.
Another plus is the whole sound from the album. Everything sounds really clear and that’s a big up to the production people.

While reviewing this album I felt very stupid because I can’t tell you more about this release. That’s because I never listened to and liked doom. Sorry for that, next time another one of the rockezine.com crew will review a doom metal release. I think we’ve got some big doom fans in our crew, but I really don’t know why they don’t have this album in their home stereo.
When you love doom metal this split is definitely an album for you. Go to www.totalrust-music.com and see where you can buy this piece of doom. But be quick; there are only 1000 copies.
