This album makes me really happy. It’s a long time ago that I heard such a refreshing, good sounding, varied album.
Put Tool and The Dillinger Escape Plan in one studio and you’ve got the sound from The End. I can understand that you think that’s impossible, but these Canadians made it possible.
Vocalist Aaron Wolf stopped screaming (on the earlier releases from the band he screamed) and he discovered that he’s got a very nice voice to sing clean. What a progress this is, the band sounds more serious and is definitely one to bear in mind in the future or at least for the summer festivals (I’m not sure if they’re already booked).
Elementary starts with the song ‘Dangerous’; in this song you already notice the improvement the band made in the past years. This song is one of the harder ones on the album. | |
After the opener they’ve got the more poppy sounding song called: ‘The Never Ever Aftermath’, this one could be in the charts.
Third song Animal is more in the line of Dillinger. The fast and technical played music combined with screaming.
The best thing on this release is the whole feeling it has. You can feel the emotions and passion of the musicians throughout the stereo.
The only drawback is that some songs last for more than five minutes. I’m not into songs that last more then five minutes. But that’s my opinion and I know that a lot of you readers won’t agree with that.
Check this release out. It’s not only for the die-hard metal and rock fans, Elementary is also an album for people who are little into alternative and “not too hard” music.
