Yeah, what can I say. Early Helloween is classic material as far as I’m concerned and with their latest Keeper Of The Seven Keys – The Legacy they did not embarras themselves either. On this Live In Sao Poalo double live-album they throw nearly two hours of music at you which is flawlessly executed and draws almost exlusively on the succesful Keepers albums. Everything from ‘Future World’, ‘I Want Out’ or ‘A Tale That Wasn’t Right’ to ‘Mrs. God’ or ‘Occasion Avenue’ passes by and the band impresses with damn-near perfection in their delivery. While I personally prefer Michael Kiske’s voice to go with these songs, Andi Deris performs well enough.
Other than that however, there’s just not much to say about this album. | |
The rapid succession of the songs, the completely clean production and the absence of anything more than some usual sing-along moments take away that ‘extra’ feeling a live records should posses. There is just nothing that’ll really make you jump out of your chair proclaiming that you never heard such a fine version of this-or-that track. I guess you’d better check out the dvd edition of this package and see if the visual material justifies spending your money on Helloween this time around. On the other hand, if you’re relatively unknown to this band, it should be mentioned that two hours of power metal classics for the price of one cd will prove to be a rewarding investment.
