Releasing an album by yourself as a band isn’t an easy thing to do. So all my respect to bands that still take the time, the energy and the money to get their cd out to magazines and e-zines. Usually I don’t rate cds that are released by bands themselves, because overall they can’t compete with the ‘big label releases’. So I won’t rate this album either. The production of Now Entering…, the self released album by Danish band Insicknia misses the brutality and the tightness to really compete with bands like The Haunted, Hatesphere or Hypocrisy (the influences I suspect).

A lot of the songs are quite good and these guys know how to write a good riff. On the other hand some of the breaks aren’t tight at all and rather misplaced. You can hear the band has good intentions, but they don’t always work out as intended. So I have some mixed feelings about these eleven tracks. Maybe with a bigger budget the band could have made Now Entering… a bit more memorable. Who knows, maybe their next album. But since the band started in 1995 and with this being their first album we’ll might have to wait until 2019 for their next release.
