Goddamn this cd rocks!
Open Fire from Alabama Thunderpussy is a new chapter in their career and their star is still rising. They probably come with their best record to date. Open Fire is a record which will stick in your cd-player like glue. Highly addictive southern rock with some influences from the sludge and stoner scène.
On this record they introduce a new vocalist, Kyle Thomas. Some may know him from his previous bands Exhorder and Floodgate. He delivers a pretty good job on this record with surprisingly catchy harmonies and melody lines in the refrains (listen to ‘Word Of The Dying Man’). | |
Another member that makes a good impression is guitarist Ryan Lake. He just plays amazing riffs and solos like he’s cutting cake. That easy.
Besides from Kyle and Ryan, the whole band delivers an accomplishment that may be heard. I have not heard a better album that swings like this one. The atmosphere, the production, the lyrics, the (full of dust sounding-) riffs; they all fit perfectly. I do not waste anymore words on this one. Listen to ‘Whiskey War’ or ‘Open Fire’; let them speak for themselves. This is my recommendation of the month!
