This album is already out for a few months now; it was released in the end of October in the year 2006. As of November 15th 2006 Fading American Dream has sold 3,564 copies; I found this fact on Wikipedia The Free Encyclopaedia. So I think that the album sold over more then 10.000 as of today.

Street Dogs is the band from Mike McColgan, the original lead-singer of the Dropkick Murphys. McColgan left the Dropkick Murphys to be a Boston fireman. After a while and a lot of fires he started the band Street Dogs.

If you’re not familiar with this band you already might know what you can except after reading the last sentences I wrote; yes you’re correct, this band makes Irish punk rock with songs about alcohol and a heavy life.

On their forerunner called Back To World they really surprised me, I really listened that album with a lot of fun and sometimes a Guinnes in my hand.

This album is very disappointing; instead of going forward the band stay stopped somewhere along the road.
All the songs are catchy but a bit of the same and they miss something. Easy played songs with sometimes a mouth-organ, violin or banjo to keep the Irish influence in it.
Furthermore the lyrics are mostly about drinking; that’s normal in Irish songs but most of the time there’s also a typical Irish folk song about a city or something on it. And I miss that on this album.

This isn’t really a bad album but I expected more from the Street Dogs. One thing I know for sure, this is more a live band than a studio band.
