The German band Gutbucket saw their first daylight in 1998. Gutbucket is their third album with pure heavy stoner rock. According to their website they play in-your-face rock. In 2006 new singer Peter Kaluza was added to the line up. His, quite, rough vocals fit well with Schröderone´s driving drum grooves, Battermann´s grinding and heavy bass and Dr. Uwe´s raging riffs.
The album Gutbucket consists of 12 heavy rock songs full of energy, so don’t expect any lengthy songs or ballads. The basis of all songs is a very solid and heavy rhythm foundation of bass guitar and powerful drums with lots of use of the cymbals. | |
Each song on Gutbucket`s Gutbucket, lasts about 3 minutes. Most songs have no guitar solo and the choruses of the songs seem to be repetitions of earlier songs. It all makes the album somewhat monotonous.
Fortunately a few songs vary from the average heavy rock songs; `Born the Radio` is a rock and roll party song with a guitar solo, `Ïnk Sukko` is a great mid tempo heavy song with strong bass playing.
The CD Gutbucket takes only 38:36 minutes, which I think is enough for the 12 heavy rock songs. Sixty minutes would definitely be too much because of the lack of difference in the songs. (Ralph) |
