This is the first album I ever got in my hands from this Scandinavian band, even though the band has already released five other records. And I must say: shame on me. I obviously can`t compare this record to previous ones, but Psalms of Extinction has pleasantly surprised me.

After some research I learned that Pain is known for it so-called `agression` in their music, so that`s what I expected when I pushed `play` to hear the first song. `Save Your Prayers` didn`t quite contain a big amount of that. But as I went on pressing my next-button, I realised this first song was only a warm-up.

When I got the track 6, `Play Dead`, I knew where I had heard this song before. Pain did a good job on covering this brilliant song of Björk. They are defitely allowed to do this again.
I can conclude that, after listening to what fans thought of the album, Pain`s newborn might be softer than their previous records, but that doesn`t mean you should let is pass you by. Au contraire. I really liked it, and I will surely check out this band`s previous work. Another fan is born.
