Sol Asunder hails from the USA. The death metal band was founded in 2000 and consists of Mica Maniac (vocals), Keith Grimshaw (drums), Chazz McConnell (guitars), Brian Kenny (guitars) and Nathaniel Vennarrucci (bass). Before this here `Horrible Human`, the band have created a self- titled album in 2002 and the album `Asunder The Surface` in 2005. They have released all their album themselves. The same with `Horribly Human`, and it`s obvious why.

`Horribly Human` contains melodic death metal with a lot of breaks. The album has a clear production, a bit too clear in my opinion. Though the hypnotic guitar patterns are highly atmospheric, the songs lack any brutality.

Probably mostly lost in the production.
The high amount of breaks is also annoying, and the riffs aren`t really interesting, sometimes sounding like when you rapidly cover and uncover your ears several times. Without distortion the guitars sound awfully out of tune (like on the boring intermezzo called `Intermission`). The drums sound like toy drums and are played quite mechanically. The vocals don’t sound too good either: some rasping sound somewhere in-between grunt and scream. The overall sound is a bit like At the Gates, In Flames and other Gotenburg bands.
