This is already the 7th album from the Italian band Eldritch and the first word that pops into mind after listening Blackenday is: `boring`. Quickly I started listening again; sometimes you start loving an album after listening to it a few times. Well, not with this release.
This progressive album is boring and it has no special parts. The riffs are predictable and the guitar solos are done by millions of other bands. To be special Eldritch combines thrash riffs with a lot of progressive parts and that with a lot of tempo changes. | |
They play a part too long before they switch to another (faster or slower) part. Some bands solve this problem with some great vocals but Blackenday is mute at these points.
Off course there are some positive points about this album. The musicians are good and you can hear that they play the dull riffs with a lot of pleasure, if this wasn’t the case then they didn’t made a 7th album. The other positive thing about this album is the nice picture on the front, you see a dead girl with some zombie hand touching her.
