After 2005’s Zeroland it’s time for Antigama’s new Full-length. The grindcore band from Warsaw got noticed and releases their brand new album on Relapse.
While listening to Resonance bands as Napalm Death and Nasum come to mind, but at the same time there’s a big chaotic/math element within Antigama’s music as well. A well known ingredient of grind is the length of the songs. With Antigama this is no different. When lots of bands would change a riff, Antigama just skips to the next song. In 30 minutes 17 songs are thrown at you at a pretty high speed. It’s until halfway the album the band takes a breather and shows the world they can do something else besides raging at full speed. | |
With Pyschonaut the band has written a Mastodon kind of song that comes at a good time and actually fits Resonance pretty well.
The second half of this album is more diverse and contains the best songs in my opinion. Also the blastbeat songs on this second half are more diverse and actually more song-structured. If their next album would contain more of these songs Antigama might be heading towards a leading modern grind status.
