The gothic metal scene was really big a few years ago. Bands as After Forever, Epica and Nemesea played in front of metal chicks with black nails and evil looks. These bands are still making music but theyīre not making typical gothic music anymore. One band is still making the typical gothic sound and that band is Imperia.

Imperia is the band from Helena Michaelsen who is not only famous for her to sexy looks but also for her singing in Trail Of Tears.
After she left Trail Of Tears she started Imperia and this is the bands second full lenght called Queen Of Light.
I never will be a fan of the gothic music and this album doesnīt change my mind. The band has made a big step forward compared with their debut but it still canīt fascinate me.
The most important thing on this album is the voice from Helena Michaelsen.

The band build the songs around her voice. This women has got a beautiful voice and itīs fits perfect within the style and atmosphere they create on this album. While listening you can have the feeling that you`re watching a funeral on TV or a scene from a bad horrormovie.

Musically this album isnīt very strong. The orchestra parts are nice but very predictable and done by so many other bands before. The strenght of this album is definitely Helena Michaelsenīs voice.

You will love Imperiaīs second album when you love gothic metal or metal with lots of orchestra stuff in it. This is not my music, but what this band made is good. Unfortunately (or luckily) itīs not good enough to convince me.
