The Dutch band Autumn releases the third album in their history. The band was formed in 1995, but the first album ‘When lust evokes the curse’ did not see the light of day until 2002. In 2004 their next album was released. In the period between 2004 and now there were quite a few changes of the band’s line up. One of the founding members (Meindert Sterk) left the band and the remaining three (Nienke de Jong, Jan Grijpstra, Jens van der Valk) and three new enrollments (Mats van der Valk, Jan Munnik and Jerome Vrielink) decided that the new cd should be a fresh start. With ‘My New Time’ they made this new start. Also their signing with the Metal Blade record label is part of this situation.
`My New Time’ has become a heavy symphonic rock album with psychedelic influences. The songs are well constructed, beginning with melancholic atmospheres and ending very emotional. Nienke to uses her voice very well in these songs, and kows exactly how to emphasise the right atmosphere.

Guitar players Mats and Jens van der Valk and Jan Munnik add some regular psychedelic riffs and atmospheres; their solo’s strengthen the psychedelic influences. Add some heavy riffs to these ingredients and you have a strong basis for great songs. ‘Closest Friends Conspire’, ‘Twisted and Turned’, ‘Angel Of Desire’ and ‘Blue Wine’ are all songs that have not only these ingredients but are also performed very well. Also there are some up-tempo songs (‘Shadow Manner’ and the title song) and with ‘Forget to Remember’, Autumn has a powerful ballad. “Communication on Opium’ does honour to its title, this is a thoroughly psychedelic song in higher atmospheres, with great musical performances. All in all ‘My New Time’ is a strong restart for Autumn. They prove that there is a huge potential with Dutch bands. With different kinds of influences, heavy riffs and the emotional vocals of Nienke ‘My New Time’ is absolutely worth listening to.
