Fast fingers and speedy strings: Paul Gilbert and his “hobby project” with another live album. “Racer X” has caught the real live sound, and it’s radiating the fun in playing. Minor detail: a live recording like this can have the disadvantage of sounding a bit messy, like the version of “Evil Joe”. The whole band is made up of very capable musicians, and they want to let us know, by playing some of the best songs of their last two albums, and some older songs.

One of the songs I missed most on the former live album, the speedy classic “Street Lethal” is also present this time, and for variation, there is the sing along “One Night Bitch” for the party people. The last song is “Godzilla” in a new jacket, which sounds a bit strange, with so many notes in this “Blue Oyster Cult” classic.
