‘Featuring members of the red Chord’ states the bio. Since I think The Red Chord is one of the best math/metal bands of this moment I inserted this cd in my anything eating cd player with great enthousiasm. The result..well as we say in Holland: "I came home from a cold fair". This record is sort of mix between rock, stonerrock and death metal (especially the vocals). About the vocals: the first few times I listened to this cd these vocals irritated me big time. Why a death grunt with this music? Why not some retro singer or Lemmy a like vocals. This voice just doesn’t fit the music. And I think it’s somewhat surprising that the band never thought ‘ well…this vocals are kinda ruining the record, let’s find another’.

However, to be honest, when the irritation slowly faded I got kind of used to some vocal lines. When you finally accept this kind of brutality the cd gets pretty enjoyable. About the music: there are some really cool ideas on this record. Some cool hypnotizing repeating riffs like in ‘Stricken’ or ‘Yawning of the gale’ or the rock and roll songs ‘ I die at ‘ and ‘the twisted ladder’. It rocks and reminds me somewhat of Alabama Thunderpussy. However I like to hear a different vocal approach on the next one!
