Ne Plus Ultra`s self-proclaimed "chaos metal" as featured on the Let Him Not Vow...-album stems from late 1999, but only now is it released on a worldwide basis by Icon Records. Ne Plus Ultra (4 guys, 1 girl) blurt out 15 songs on this album, mostly in the deathmetal style but with some flirts with blackmetal and gothic. Even with reasonably fast drumming and good lyrics, this band seems to lack a substantial element: catchiness.

The songs themselves sound pretty fine, but with all the cliches and references to other bands one hears when listening to the album, there is too little to stay behind in the mind of the listener. All in all, Ne Plus Ultra`s Let Him Vow... is not a bad effort, but lacks any substantial image.
