Deep Inside is the re-release (originally released in 2000) of the Hungarian sextet’s first album. Dark Symphonies really tried to make the best of it by re-mastering the CD and adding improved artwork and an additional CDR part. But apparently something went wrong. The intro sounds alright (ice-cold winds and eerie organ) but when the rest of the music falls in it’s done. The sound is still very low-tune and heavy but very bleak and leveled off. That just about takes the pleasure off listening. And there’s so much to hear. | |
There’s female singer Juliette who has a really beautiful voice (and ditto appearances), very fit for this kind of music. The duets with male vocalist Andras are well balanced. The supposed progressive influence can clearly be heard in the drumming of Peter. Overall, the music could be described as gothic metal with (techno) thrash influences and that just needs a clear and heavy production. Let’s hope that the production for their next album, Astronomicon, will do justice to the music. (Jan Geert) |
