In the vain of Jethro Tull and Kayak, Lucifer Was releases a concept album that distinguishes itself from regular rock by the use of flute and Hammond. In comparison to the aforementioned bands, Lucifer Was falls short. First of all in sound quality, second in vocal capacity and finally in song composition. “The Divine Tree” sounds flat. It lacks the dynamics needed and the mix isn’t top notch either.

Guitar solo’s are too dominant, the flute too direct. The vocals aren’t really bad, but I can’t find any positive words to describe them either. This guy is trying (read yelling) slightly too much and the refrains are no highlights melody wise. “The Divine Tree” is a disappointment, even for those not expecting”.
