The Deep and Dreamless Sleep is the seventh album of Meliah Rage (founded in 1987).

The cover of The Deep and Dreamless Sleep supposes you will hear some dark metal; but no, this isn’t true. Although there are some doom and dark influences, the music is best described as 80th metal with heavy riffs, somewhat rough but powerful and melodic vocals and heavy but rather short solos.

The songs are quite melodic but not very original. The production is heavy and yet rather clear. Next to some up tempo songs (‘Curse’, ‘Undefeated’) and mid tempo songs (‘Permanently Damaged’ and the title song with typical old Metallica riffs) The Deep and Dreamless Sleep contains also the very heavy and slow tempo song ‘God and Man’; the dark voices empathise the doom influences.

All on one The Deep and Dreamless Sleep is quite an average metal album with the roots in the eighties. Not bad but neither a top of the bill album; a rather average heavy metal album. Deep and Dreamless Sleep takes 36 minutes, in this case it will do.
