When you’re an emo kid (click here if you want to know what an emo kid looks like) you must be very happy these days. I know it’s not cool to be happy when you’re emo, but I’m sure you’re happy.
They`re happy because of the albums that are being released these days and they`re definitely waiting for the new Atreyu record.

Atreyu is getting big (especially in the States) and big bands do not always make the best CD’s. They do work with big names, this band for instance worked with John Feldmann and Andy Wallace for this record. These both guys produced and mixed for Nirvana, Slayer, Good Charlotte and so on.

As you might have notice the music on Lead Sails Paper Anchor isn`t the best part.

The album is filled with catchy punk/emo songs combined with a really soft touch of hardcore. The sound is marvellous and you hear that the band didn’t economize on this point, they didn’t economize at all.
Overall the band has written some good songs and put it on a disc. But you’ll miss the convincing part after hearing it a few times and that`s someting that can`t be fixed by an expensive producer.

Lead Sails Paper Anchor is not my cup-of-tea. Atreyu has chosen the commercial way more and more since their first release.
