Aerolithe is the seventh album of the Finish band Fall of the Leave. In the early beginning the band made melodic death metal. In 2007 their musical style has very less to do with death metal anymore. Recently Fall of the Leafe announced that they will play another two gigs in Finland in September 2007, after these gigs the band will split up. Although the band soon will split up the review of the album is written down below. The vocals of Tuomas Tuominen are best described as a mix of Vedder and Hedfield. The first song of the album (‘the Opening’) is a short track with organ playing that changes into epic and bombastic music followed by ‘All the good Pain’, a melodic song with heavy riffs that sounds rather commercial; this might be a huge radio success.

There are a few death metal influences like in ‘Drawning Worry’ (with real aggressive parts (vocals and riffs) but also very melodic parts) and ‘At a Breath’s Pace’, this song is a great slow tempo with some grunts and a real heavy ending. Worth mentioning is ‘Especially By Stealth’, a song with U2 influences but still sounds metal. As ‘The Opening’ opens Aerotithe ‘Closure’ closes the album and the history of the band. With Aerolithe Fall of the Leafe has made an album with a mix of different kinds of metal and yet all song are very accessible. This makes Aerolithe an album worth listening for radio minded metal fans, for death metal fans Aerolithe won’t be interesting. (Ralph) |
