Roadkill brings us Heavy Metal with their new EP ‘ Dark Side’. Long time ago I’ve heard Heavy Metal made by a dutch act. It isn’t exactly my cup of tea, but I have to admit ‘ Dark Side’ has its moments.

They bring us pretty metallic riffs and a tight rhythm base. Throw some solo’s , a steady bass player and some catchy hooks in the vocal lines and you have the perfect ingredients for a Roadkill effort.

‘ God of war’ as an example, is a song like that. No surprises, just decent metal with an extremely catchy chorus wich reminds me of Iron Maiden. ‘ Lost’ is an exception on this formula, it’s a ballad with Christen Roelen and they made a nice song built around acoustic guitars and emotional driven vocals and ends in a traditional metal song.

If you have feeling for it, it probably will remind you of ages long ago.

I have to say they have made a pretty decent record. I nowhere get the feeling this record is over the top or ‘ too much’ like I often have with Heavy metal records. So if you’re into this kind of music, check them out in the record store, at their site or on tour with dutch legends Vengeance.
