Typical Eastcoast US hardcore here from Krutch, who hail from Pennsylvania. Musically, this is mainly mid-tempo moshing parts with a lot of hiphop-influences and the occasional metal-break. They have the two-singer-thing going on for them, where one of the singers sounds pretty tuff and angry and the other one even tuffer and angrier.
About half of the songs have pretty standard come-and-get-some tough guy lyrics (‘Weakling’, ‘List Of Enemies’) but I prefer the more personal, sometimes even heavy lyrics from songs like ‘Mother’ and ‘Sick Mind “Stalker” ’. | |
I never really cared about the stuff Krutch put out in the past (they had some good songs, but also a lot of mediocre material) but this release is a lot better than that. ‘Whatever It Takes’, ‘List Of Enemies’ and ‘Wrong Man’ are highlights here, but all the songs kick ass. I only don’t know what to do with the ‘acoustic guitar with clean vocals’-intermezzo’s on this, because the guys aren’t particularly good singers, but who cares. If you’re into stuff like Bulldoze and E-Town Concrete, buy this and kill some people in the pit. (Jasper) |
