Rob Rock is a singer who has worked with a lot of bands like Impellittery, Project M.A.R.S. (with Tony MacAlpine, Rudy Sarzo and Chriss Impellittery), and Avantasia. The man has real great metal vocals with a lot of power and emotion. At the fast songs he sometimes almost sings over the top because of the power, it sounds a bit lit screaming. That’s a pity because with such a terrifying vocals you don’t have to shout. On Garden of Chaos guitar player C.J. Grimmark (Narnia) takes care of sometimes heavy power metal riffs and the other time great melodic solos. The production had been taken care of by C.J. Grimmark and RoY Z (Halfort and Helloween). So all ingredients are present for a strong power metal album.

The forth studio album of the power metal singer starts with terrific metal riffs, the first riffs on it is obvious clear that there is a lot of Chaos at the up-tempo title song. The solos on the album are fast, melodic and emotional; he is often compared with Malmsteen. The guitar playing on Garden of Chaos isn’t an exception to this statement.

Best songs are the mid tempo songs ‘This time is the Last Time’ (great riffs), ‘Only a Matter of Time’ and ‘Spirit in the Sky’ with strong drum playing by Andreas Johansson, rhythm foundation, guitar and vocals. Even some symphonic elements are added at last two mentioned songs.

The second part of the album has some very large contrasts; two very fast power metal songs followed by two almost acoustic ballads. Unfortunately the ending of the album gets a little bit boring; this album deserves a more powerful ending. The Chaos ends too suddenly.

Garden Of Chaos is an energetic melodic power metal album in a way we know Rob Rock the best (in the style of the 80th metal), a powerful metal singer with a lot of great metal songs. The ending however is a minus point, actually Garden of Chaos is just one song too long; the acoustic song ‘Unconditional’ doesn’t fit with the other songs on this rather traditional metal album.
