Annihilator, the Canadian band surrounding guitarist Jeff Waters, have released this brand new album on the 18th of March and it`s a bit different from what we`re used to from these guys. Main reason for this is the guitarsound from Jeff himself. He decided to experiment a little bit with his equipment which immediately changed the overall Annihilator sound. It has somewhat of an industrial touch and you either love it or hate it. The current line-up is a very strong one and features Joe Comeau-vocals, Curran Murphy-guitars, Russ Bergquist-bass, Randy Black-drums and Jeff Waters of course being the main composer. | |
Songwise, Annihilator gives us a solid album with cool tracks like "Ritual", "The Blackest Day", "Nothing To Me" and the very fast "Cold Blooded" or "Ultra Motion". Love the sound or not, these are some fine compositions. Also the vocals from Joe Comeau have improved and he`s obviously creating his own unique style. Other songs prove to a bit dull after a while, like "Striker", "Fire Power" and "Prime Time Killing". But the true Annihilator fan will surely disagree on that. This is simply a quality album from a quality band. (Johan) |
