The history of Necrophobic goes back to 1990 when the band was found in Stockholm Sweden. After they had recorded some demo tapes and the vinyl EP “The Call” Necrophobic released their debut “The Nocturnal Silence” back in 1993. Nowadays, after a few line up changes and the very self critical band members towards the song material made that the fans had to wait almost three years for a new release after “The Third Antichrist” in 1999. But the brand new “Bloodhymns” certainly is worth checking out. Necorphobic knows how to combine the best elements of Scandinavian music on one single album. Picture this, the rawness and melodies of the old Entombed (“Bloodhymns” was recorded in the Sunlight Studio’s) like in “Cult in Blood” combined with over the top thrash and black metal and a viking metal touch (like Dissection, Twin Obscenity). | |
But with the typical Necrophobic touch and of course the raw throat of vocalist and bass player Tobias Sidegard. And with a sauce of guitar solo’s some more mid tempo orientated phrases “Roots of Heldrasil” Necrophobic showed that all these above mentioned items can be fit in compact songs which never are to long. Listen to songs as “Taste of Black” or “Dreams shall Flesh” (with the great thrash piece) and I cant keep hiding a little bit of euphemism. Every metal fan who likes the above mentioned genres should buy this release or go, at least, check this out. Already a classic. (Teun) |
