We will never do the same thing twice. An outlet that Soilwork can only confirm. Ever since the debut “Steelbath Suicide”, four years ago, the original death thrash metal sound has evolved to a more melodic and progressive approach but they always refer to where it all started out with. And also on “Natural Born Chaos” Soilwork again surprises with some new additions two the Soilwork sound. Vocalist Bjorn Strid choose for more clean vocal parts this time and the keyboards also got some more space in the music like “As We Speak” for instance. But Soilwork certainly succeeded in writing a great release full of quality songs and song material. Combine this with the musical abilities of the band members and you get songs as “The Flameout” with the great chorus, “Black Star Deceiver” with Hammond organ, or the title song with a very fat Pantera a like riff. | |
“Natural Born Chaos” has become a great progressive thrash release and proved that the Soilwork sound has gone to the next level. The production sounds great (studio Fretman) and the fact that no one less than Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad) produced the album says enough about the fat sound. The true Soilwork fan can buy this release with their eyes closed. And do not worry. Its no “A Predator’s Portrait II”. Perhaps a space at the Double Mega Stage at Wacken this year?
