The name Daemusinem is a combination of the words Daemon and Musine. Musine
is a mountain near Turin, Italy with a history that goes back centuries. Unexplainable things have been going on there ever since man can remember. Daemusinem tries to capture the atmosphere of places like that mountain in their music. The result is a melodic sort of black metal clearly influenced by Satyricon, Old Man’s Child and the first Dimmu Borgir records; black metal like it was played in the mid `90s. They’re pretty good at it, too. Melodic guitar work, fast drums, tight breaks and nice keyboard parts. | |
The band members are very young as well, so maybe in time they can develop their own sound. The only bad thing is that I get an uncomfortable feeling when I read the lyrics to the song Domine Empire. Do they want another Roman empire to conquer Europe and destroy all the cultures? Or are they just fascinated by the old Roman empire? Their militant looks (skinheads, army boots and pants) don’t help to take the feeling away. But I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. So, if you’re into good old fashioned Black Metal be sure to check this record out.
