Another exponent of the lively Belgian scene is the black metal formation Infernal Legion. This band has been active since 1993 and Sculptured Humans is only their first full-length release. After a few changes in style their one and only goal is now to produce in your face, straightforward black metal. And that’s exactly what Sculptured Humans has to offer. One could say that this is both their strength as well as their weakness. Infernal Legion do sound raw, aggressive and true to the black metal roots but on the other hand not very original or innovative.

And precisely these things are so important in order to be noticed among the ever growing mass of mediocre black metal acts. Musical-wise the songs on this album range from full speed ahead blast beats in F.T.W. to more mid-tempo death metal riffing in for example the title track of the album. Due to the flat and somewhat powerless production the overall sound is rather chaotic and harms the ‘in your face’ effect of the songs. However I do think that a live setting will do the intensity of their music much good.
