The theme of Poverty’s No Crime’s fourth album, called ‘One In A Million’, is the problem of finding one’s inner self within today’s society. The nice looking cover illustrates that. Most of the nine songs on this album, are pretty long, with the longest one being over 10 minutes. That’s definitely a sign of a progressive metal band, which PNC is. The first pressing will contain a bonus track. It’s a cover of Rush’s Distant Early Warning.
Poverty’s No Crime puts out one of the heavier releases on the InsideOut label. At times it sounds agressive, especially with the guitars. The keyboard is used a lot on this cd and it can basicly be heard non-stop. Thankfully, there are also slow songs/moments on this record which makes it interesting to listen to. | |
Add to that the nice vocals and you’re halfway there. The bass and drums can be heard well and all things combined are responsible for the progressive and melodic metal of PNC.
This album was easy getting into for me. The singer has a good voice and it doesn’t take any time getting used to. The songs are composed in a melodic way, and there is plenty of stuff going on that you will notice when you pay close attention.
‘One In A Million’ is a surprisingly good record and I hope to hear songs like ‘Ancient Lies’ and the amazing instrumental ‘Logan 5’ live sometime soon! (Frank) |
