You don’t have to take the title of this CD all too seriously. It’s not all whining and obscurity that END OF GREEN have put on this record. Opener ‘Motor’ is an up-tempo rock song that could compete with the likes of Creed. ‘Only One’ starts out sounding like a single from that band as well, but ends in a melancholical tone that you might hear in the ballads of – other dark souls – Staind. And just when you think you can pin this band down as part of the current wave of modern rock, they make the melancholy increase even further in ‘Death In Veins’, resembling Amorphis or Anathema. This is also the strength of END OF GREEN. Their repertoire takes us through a wide range of melancholic rock and metal. Especially the strong voice of Michael Hubert takes you along some impressive dreamy moments. The fourth song, ‘I Hate’, creates the dark atmosphere we are used to hearing from Moonspell, but ends with some screaming moments in which Michael proves to be a better singer than the one from the Portuguese band.

It creates a tearjerking song for about 10 minutes. ‘Astrobastard’ and ‘Everywhere’ pick up the tempo from the first song again. These two songs are dominated by the ponderous guitarsound from three guitar players. ‘Godsick’ returns to that Moonspell feeling, although this song sounds so much clearer. A bit disappointing is the cover from ‘Black No. 1’. Not that it’s badly done, it just doesn’t add anything to the original of Type O Negative. With ‘Myra’ ends the record, an obscure ballad that on it’s own justifies the title of the whole record. END OF GREEN has some striking dark moods on this record that should be liked by people who are into melancholic rock. There maybe nothing new or musically challenging on this record, but the mood that’s created on it is more than impressive… ‘Left it all behind’ mourns Michael on the beautiful ‘Myra’. There’s however one consolation; there is a repeat button on every stereo…
