For those of you who might hear a bell ring when hearing the name Dusk, yep, this is the famous doom-underground band that was active from 1993 to 1998. "Mourning... Resurrect" is a collection of their previous material, bundled together on one CD with an added bonus track that has only appeared on a compilation album.

Stylistically, Dusk is a stereotypical doom-band with death influences (especially in the growly vocals), and I am very much reminded of the mighty Disembowelment. The songs are pretty uptempo for doom, and there`s quite some nice hooks and stylechanges in the songs themselves.

Productionwise, the first six songs (from their self-titled album) sound a bit more convincing than the following four (the "Majestic Thou In Ruin"-material), but the core of the songs is the same throughout.

It`s a shame this band has been laid to rest as these songs manage to convince in quality; perhaps some of the bandmembers might decide to join forces in the future - who knows.
