After a very promising intro, it goes downhill fast with "Slaughtering The Faithful". Pessimist, originating from the USA, claimed to be influenced by Deicide, Morbid Angel, Nile and Krisiun, but they lack the elements that made those bands big in the first place. With "Slaughtering The Faithful" most resembling Krisium in speed and aggression, the songs strand in an almost grindcore-like mush of sound. The drums sound pale and the guitars whirr themselves into a generic wall of sound.

Surprisingly, this bad producing effort came from Erik Rutan (ex-Morbid Angel), making me wonder if he had a bad day. With the bio stating this album to be "one of the most sonic albums of 2002", this might be true, but not without the addition that it`s also a very dreadful one if you listen to it for more than a song or two.
