Reviewing an album from Dutch melodic groove metal band Dionysos is not an easy task for me. I have to admit I don`t really like this style of music, but on the other hand I do have to admit that "Such Is Life..." showcases a good example of quality and originality - something that seems to lack severely with most of the Dutch bands lately.

Definitely influenced by hardrock as well as thrash, "Such Is Life..." is more or less focused on guitar riffing throughout the entire album. Thus you can expect plenty of instrument parts as well as insane guitar parts.

Even though this stretches most of the songs towards the ... minutes, I have to admit that it stays a pleasure to listen to the songs. Even the vocals, which sound horribly out of tone, don`t decrease much of the appeal.

With songs like "Satanic Verses", "Waiting For Some Sun" and "Embittered" it`s a shame that this band has been defunct for quite a while now. In my opinion, this band could have gotten a long way if they focused on writing instrumental songs. Hopefully, we`ll hear more from the former bandmembers...
