B.S.E. means something other than BRAIN SURGERY EXPERIENCE in my country (although…). Let’s not get into that though, because this E-zine is about music. There are only three songs on this record from which two are remixes of ‘Hello Spaceboy’. The original is from, none other than, David Bowie in co-operation with Brian Eno. ‘Hello Spaceboy’, originally titled ‘Hallo Spaceboy’ was recorded for the “Outside” album in 1995. You know, that album which had the number one on it, because it would get a sequel (that never came). It was the time that Eno and Bowie were interested enough in electronic music to release an industrial-orientated album. It also resulted in a States tour with Nine Inch Nails. So, BRAIN SURGERY EXPERIENCE didn’t have to change much to make this song an electronic killer. The original (?) cover therefore isn’t that different from the original of Bowie.

It contains a probably even heavier beat, but that’s it. The Moondust Mix however is far dirtier. It starts with shouts and the beat could be on a freaking house record. The lyrics are still recognizable, but the music is definitely more upbeat. The most promising song however is the extended version of ‘Sanctuary’. It sounds a bit like PAIN during one of his best moments, the song ‘End Of The Line’. BRAIN SURGERY EXPERIENCE however got more groove in their song. The presence of guitar (and even a solo) is an extra reminder that these two guys can create some interesting heavy music. This song keeps you hungry for more of their own material… Normally we wouldn’t give a rating to a CDS, but consider it as a gesture. Just to make you curious about this band…
