The American EBM band NOISE PROCESS drags you into their ‘Neural Code’ with an opener (‘Incarnate’) that reminds us of Suicide Commando. Distorted vocals, heavy layers and a groovy beat. T. Garelick and M. Renfield however prove to have the ability to put other influences into their music as well. Listen to the more whisperingly sung ‘More Than Once’, ‘Presence’ and ‘Dying World’ for instance. The album has some devastating moments on it. Especially the heavy distorted vocals make this album (just like the earlier mentioned Belgian band) a tough encounter for people who didn’t expect something like this. Fact is that, in contrast with the vocals, the groove keeps on going on this album. It’s just a pity that NOISE PROCESS can’t seem to create some shorter songs. Now there are some songs that are interesting but lose their flavour at the end (or in the middle) of the song. | |
Songs like ‘Sentinel’ and ‘Betrayed’ would have been so much better if they had been a few minutes shorter. ‘Her Tears’ ends the official record the way ‘Incarnate’ starts it. Heavy beats and distorted voices in a well-blended mixture. It shows NOISE PROCESS at its best.
The remixes of ‘Dying World’ and ‘Betrayed’ that really end the record are statements that NOISE PROCESS absolutely has the ability to create a better album in the future. That’s why this album is a great record for people who are into this kind of music. If the band however delivers an album filled with the better songs of this ‘Neural Code’ it promises to be a much brighter future…
