One of my favorite Brazilian extreme death and grind bands at this moment certainly is Krisiun. Although I have to admit that bands as Abhorrence, Rebaelliun, Ophiolatry and Nephasth also deserve more then were they stand right now. But it just seems hard for bands in this continent to get a proper record deal nowadays. Krisiun on the other hand already has a great reputation in the worldwide metal-scene with there extreme metal. They have al-ready played with bands as Angelcorpse, Satyricon, Morbid Angel, Amon Amarth, God Dethroned and many others. And now "Ageless Venomous" their fourth official full-length release. The first thing I noticed was that the production was more transparent compared to their previous release "Conquerors of Armageddon" which was produced by Eric Rutan (Morbid Angel). | |
Advantage: every detail is hearable. Disadvantage: it misses the overwhelming impact of their previous release. The music on "Ageless Venomous" doesn`t differ too much from Krisiun`s other releases. They still play high-speed death-grind with blast-parts. But I have to admit, and that`s positive, that this release also has parts that are played more slowly. It certainly gives this release more variation. Just like the technical guitar parts, which seem to have evolved (Classic guitar intro on "Diableros" for instance). Krisiun also used more samples this time. Combine this with some dark intros and you have a total release full of varied but still ear-raping metal. Keep up the good work guys, I`ll see you at Wacken. (Teun) |
